Biography
Teaching students of all ages to love and create music has been a joyful passion for Karyn Heath for over thirty-five (35) years. From her state-of-the-art Yamaha piano studio and lab in the Stuart School of Music in Stuart, Florida, she teaches students in groups of up to four (4) as well as private lessons. Karyn holds a Bachelor’s Degree with Honors in Piano Pedagogy and Performance, as well as a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree. As a member of the Music Teachers’ National Association, Florida State Music Teachers’ Association, Treasure Coast Music Teachers’ Association (Past President), Palm Beach County Music Teachers’ Association, National Federation of Music Clubs, and the National Guild of Piano Teachers (Teacher Division of the American College of Musicians), she has worked with many of the top teachers and performers of our day. KEYS Piano Studio (KEYS stands for Karyn’s Excellent Young Students!) provides the foundation for a great music education for students ages four (4) to eighty-four (84). The ability to play any keyboard instrument is based on a solid knowledge of reading music, music theory, ear training, and improvisation. Karyn’s students also receive instruction in composition and performance in a wide range of settings. She also includes a dose of fun in every lesson, such as the Great M&M Challenge! Karyn is also a registered nurse, and as CEO and Creative Director of her company, Celebrate Wellness, she helps her students stay healthy by incorporating relaxation techniques, stress reducing tips, yoga moves for balance, and is currently working on a course to help musicians strengthen their muscles for better technique and endurance. She has found through her work with many people in the clinical setting that music, and piano/keyboard playing in particular, is a wonderful tool for increasing strength in all areas: physical, mental (cognitive), and emotional. And she has found that the health benefits of piano/keyboard playing and making music are enormous. Music making and piano/keyboard playing contributes to a lifetime of health, learning, and fun!
