Biography

 

Lindsay graduated from Florida State University in 1970 and started teaching public school in Martin County, began her private flute studio and performing in the Treasure Coast area.  Lindsay continued her musical education by attending flute master classes with Geoffrey Gilbert, William Bennett and Peter Lloyd.

 

As a member of the Florida Flute Association she has served on the Board of Directors, as Flute Choir Coordinator, Competition Judge, Newsletter Editor and Program Chair of the state convention for 1997, 1998, 2007, 2008, 2009, and 2010.  She has been asked and accepted to fill a six-year commitment in positions of Vice-President, President and Chairman of the Board.

 

Lindsay performs with the Treasure Coast Flute Choir (which she started in 1984), the Florida Flute Orchestra performing in France, the International Flute Orchestra in China and Greece, and with Flutes Renaissance, Silhouette and the Indian River Pops Orchestra.

 

Since 2000 Lindsay has been one of three flute instructors with the Florida Flute Workshop, a summer flute camp that was based at Florida Southern College in Lakeland through 2005 and since 2006 at Stetson University in DeLand.

 

Lindsay has enjoyed teaching flute students ranging in age from 5 to 85 years young.
