Alek Djuric

Aleksandar Djuric is a conductor, violist, violinist, music educator, and producer whose career bridges conservatory training, professional performance, and transformative work with young musicians. Born in Serbia into a family of musicians, he studied at the Belgrade Music Academy after earning first prize in Serbia's National Viola Competition and second prize the following year. His early success led to his selection for the European Youth Orchestra, with which he toured across Europe.

After emigrating to New York, Djuric attended The Juilliard School on a full scholarship and graduated in 1995. He subsequently moved to South Florida to perform with the New World Symphony and received a full scholarship for graduate study at the University of Miami. As a violist and violinist, he has performed with orchestras and chamber ensembles throughout the region, including the Palm Beach Symphony and Florida Grand Opera.

Djuric began his South Florida public-school teaching career at South Miami K-8 Center's magnet program and earned National Board Certification in 2009. From 2010 to 2026, he served as Instrumental Music Director at Miami Arts Charter School, where he directed string and full orchestras, developed musicians from beginning through advanced levels, and helped students build the technique, discipline, and confidence required for serious ensemble performance. In 2026, his advanced string ensemble earned straight Superior ratings at both district and state music performance assessments.

Beyond the classroom, Djuric has worked as an orchestra and personnel director, musical director for interdisciplinary productions, and founder of Ludilo Sound Design, composing and producing music for film, television, and commercial media. His teaching combines rigorous classical fundamentals with the practical insight of an active performer, conductor, and studio musician. He now brings that breadth of experience to Stuart School of Music and to students across the Treasure Coast.
