Biography

Al Hager received degrees at Florida State University and the University of Florida and has been a public school music teacher in Florida and Georgia since 1968.  He has taught at the middle school, high school and college levels, been Teacher of the Year at two schools and retired in 2009 after nineteen years at Stuart Middle School.

 

He performs with Flutes Renaissance, Silhouette, the Rick Hobbs Sax Quintet, the Indian River Pops Orchestra.  Al conducts the Treasure Coast Flute Choir, the big band, For Dancers Only and the Treasure Coast Directors’ Jazz Band.  He is a published author, composer and a certified adjudicator for the Florida Bandmasters Association.  He is also the Men’s 6 National Barefoot Water Ski champion for 2007 and 2008 and the Reserve Executive Director of the American Barefoot Club..

 

Mr. Hager is well qualified to teach all levels of wind instruments, music theory, jazz theory and improvisation.
